Technology Loans:
Current University of Toronto students, staff and faculty can borrow technology loans at the Library Service Desk using their TCard. Loans are available on a first-come, first served basis and cannot be booked in advance.
Technology items for loan at the Chemistry Library:
- 1 67W Apple laptop charger (USB-C)
- 1 90W universal PC laptop charger (compatible with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Toshiba)
- 2 universal phone chargers (USB wall charger with USB-C / Lightning / Micro-USB cable)
- 2 Android phone chargers (USB wall charger with micro-USB cable)
- 2 iPhone chargers (USB wall charger with lightning cable)
- 2 sets of headphones (over-the-ear with 3.5mm auxiliary cable)
- 2 pairs of stylus pens for use with digital whiteboards
- 2 power strips with 6 outlets
- 2 HDMI cords (HDMI to HDMI with ethernet)
Borrowing Policies
- Loan period: 5 hours
- Overdue fines: $0.50 per hour
- Items must be returned to the library service desk at least 15 minutes before closing time - please see Library Hours.
- If damaged or lost, the borrower may be charged a replacement or repair fee.
Computers in the Library:
The Chemistry Library has 7 workstations (5 PC, 2 Mac) available for use by U of T students, faculty and staff only.
Computer Software
PC computers include the following software:
- ChemDraw
- MNova
- LoggerPro 3
- SpinWorks
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Cambridge Structural Database Suite (CSDS), including Mercury, Conquest, GOLD, Hermes, CSD Python API, Mogul, and enCIFer (only certain devices).
Mac computers are wireless and include Microsoft Office Suite only. To use the internet on a Mac, please connect to the University of Toronto WiFi network using your UTORid and password.
Your personal information:
All personal information (including your passwords, browser history, saved documents etc.) is automatically cleared once you log out of the computers. Please make sure to save your work to a USB key or cloud network such as Google Drive/OneDrive before logging off.

There are many wireless networks available on campus for U of T affiliated users. The Information Commons Help Desk provides support for 2 networks (UofT and eduroam).
